RJ1.02 CHEDDAR MORTAR GRADE LIME PUTTY

DESCRIPTION:	Non-hydraulic lime putty slaked from high calcium Cheddar quicklime. The putty is matured for a minimum of 6 months, and 12 month mature is available.
APPEARANCE:	Thick, white dispersion.
USES:	Cheddar Mortar grade putty is mixed with sands, stone-dusts and aggregates normally at 1: 2½ or 1: 3 to produce non-hydraulic lime putty bedding and pointing mortars and internal haired basecoat plasters. Pozzolans (RJ7.01) must be added for external renders, and exposed locations. Seek Technical Advice.

SHELF LIFE:	Matures and improves with age when kept in sealed containers. Protect from frost.
PACKAGES:	15 litre (c.20kgs) polyethylene tubs.
HEALTH & SAFETY	Alkali pH 13. Eyes, open sores and cuts, and skin must be protected. See Health and Safety Data Sheet RJ 5.01.
OBSERVATIONS:	Tradesmen familiar with the use of lime, and with experience of its successful use should be employed. Accurate volumetric site mixing is essential. Non-hydraulic limes do not perform as gypsum plaster, modern cement or hydraulic lime. Non-hydraulic lime sets only by reaction with atmospheric carbon dioxide in the presence of moisture. This 'carbonation' is a slow process and control of the drying and setting process by 'tending' and protecting is crucial to success and long term performance. Do not use in temperatures of 5ºC and falling. Protect from frost.
