DESCRIPTION: |
Feebly hydraulic lime putty produced from Shillingstone middle-bed quicklime thoroughly slaked at our works. |
APPEARANCE: |
Thick Dispersion. Off-white in colour. Small particles of coal and ash and partially burnt limestone are present. |
USES: |
To be mixed with aggregate to produce lime mortars, renders and plasters, especially external bedding/pointing mixes and renders.

SHELF LIFE: |
Feebly hydraulic putties are normally used within 4 weeks of slaking date. The Lime putty will begin to set in the tub. Mature feebly hydraulic putty can be used by thorough mixing, but the hydraulic properties of a re-mixed mature putty are somewhat reduced. The putty has a thixotropic quality, the addition of water is to be avoided unless absolutely necessary. |

OBSERVATIONS: |
Experienced tradesmen familiar with the use of lime putty must be employed and experienced supervision is essential for mixing.
Feebly hydraulic lime does not perform as gypsum plaster and modern cementitious materials. Lime sets by reacting with atmospheric CO2 in the presence of moisture.
This carbonation is a slow process and the control of the drying and setting process is crucial to the long term performance. See Technical Data Sheet Tan.03 |
