DESCRIPTION: |
P.B.D (Pozzolanic Brick Dust) is a reactive pozzolanic additive. Pozzolans
improve the strength and durability of lime mortars, and reduce porosity
and permeability. |

P.B.D. |
P.B.D is a crushed brick produced from a diatomaceous clay brick fired at low temperature (c.850ºC). It is the crushed brick used in the English Heritage "Smeaton Project". Crushed brick and tile have been added to lime mortars since pre-Roman times, and the principal reason for the remarkable durability of Roman mortars and lime-concretes. | ||||||||||||||

HEALTH & SAFETY

Fine powders of nuisance dust classification. Use
gloves, overalls, facemasks and respiratory protection as appropriate to
working environment. |

OBSERVATIONS: |
To be mixed with lime mortar immediately before use. Add at 5%, 7.5%
or 10% by volume to mortar depending on the particular circumstances.
Mixes in the proportions 1:3:1 (Lime:Sand:Brickdust) have performed well
in trials. |
